The best way to get you home to every web site, including this one is through a licensed agent who will list it on the MLS services. The MLS then feeds to Zillow, Trulia, Realtor, Homes and all the other sites that list houses for sale and for rent. I’m with Howard Hanna and we market through television on Showcase of Homes, MLS, brochures, newspapers and direct mail. It’s important to note that in order to rent or lease in Ann Arbor your home must go through a city inspection and be certified first. I’d be happy to walk you through that process and get you to that point. The realtor you chose would be responsible for photographing, marketing and vetting applicants. You are ultimately in control of who you are going to rent it to. The cost to use a realtor, in most cases, will be one month’s rent. The most you can hold for a security deposit, by law, is 1.5 months rent. Depending on whom you are renting to, you may want to consider a management company as well. From my experience a management company will ask for about 10% of your monthly rent. Typically they manage everything from emergencies to collecting the rent so you have very little to do.
